Oncology Medical Staff

Syed Arshad, M.D., Medical Oncologist and Hematologist
Dr. Arshad was born in Karachi, Pakistan and received his medical training at Dow Medical College, University of Karachi, in Pakistan. Dr. Arshad completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. He is board certified in medical oncology, internal medicine and hematology. Dr. Arshad joined Norton Cancer Institute in 2006.

Muneeb A. Choudry, M.D., Medical Oncologist
Dr. Choudry earned his medical degree at Saint George's University School of Medicine in Saint George, Grenada. He served as an internist and hospitalist at both Norton Audubon Hospital and Norton Suburban Hospital. Dr. Choudry completed his oncology fellowship at the Brown Cancer Center in Louisville, Ky. Dr. Choudry joined Norton Cancer Institute in 2005.

 

Mark S. Cornett, M.D., Radiation Oncologist
Dr. Cornett was born in Virginia and received his medical training at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Dr. Cornett completed his residency at the University of Louisville Department of Radiation Oncology and served on the faculty there for four years. He is board certified in radiation oncology. Dr. Cornett joined Norton Cancer Institute in 2000.

David L. Doering, M.D., Gynecologic Oncologist
Dr. Doering was born and raised in Texas. He attended medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine where he graduated cum laude. He continued his education at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center where he completed his internship and residency followed by a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. Dr. Doering came to Louisville in 1991. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology with a subspecialty in gynecologic oncology. Dr. Doering joined Norton Cancer Institute in 1999.

Mary E. Gordinier, M.D., Gynecologic Oncologist
Dr. Gordinier received her medical training at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. She completed her residency at the Women & Infants Hospital at Brown University in Providence, R.I., and went on to complete fellowships in women's oncology at Brown University and in gynecologic oncology at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Dr. Gordinier is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (2002).

Michael J. Hahl, M.D., Radiation Oncologist
Dr. Hahl earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma. He served as Chief Resident of radiation oncology at the University of Louisville and became board certified in radiation oncology in 2002. After practicing in southern Indiana for several years, Dr. Hahl joined Norton Cancer Institute in June 2005.

Hadley

Terence J. Hadley, M.D., Medical Oncologist and Hematologist
Dr. Hadley was born and raised in New York. He attended medical school at Columbia University and completed his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in Hematology-Oncology at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fl. Following his fellowship, Dr. Hadley worked at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Md. and the Walter Reid Army Institute of Research in Washington, D.C. Dr. Hadley came to Louisville in 1987. He is board certified in internal medicine with a subspecialty of Hematology. Dr. Hadley treats both blood disorders and cancer.

John T. Hamm, M.D., Medical Oncologist
Medical Director, Norton Cancer Institute Research Program
Dr. Hamm is one of the four founders of Norton Cancer Institute. He was born and raised in Louisville. He received his medical degree at Vanderbilt University and completed his formal training in Louisville. Dr. Hamm is board certified in internal medicine with a subspecialty in medical oncology. Dr. Hamm is the Medical Director of the Norton Cancer Institute Research Program. He is Chairman of the Norton Hospital Cancer Committee.

Zulfiqar A. Malik, M.D., Ph.D., Hematologist and Oncologist

Dr. Malik received his medical degree from the University of Iowa Medical Scientist Training Program in Iowa City. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Parkland Hospital at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Malik received the prestigious Howard Hughes Research Fellowship from Cornell University, Ithaca, Ny and completed his fellowship training at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Malik joined Norton Cancer Institute in 2007.

Shawn L. Price, M.D., Orthopedic Oncology
Dr. Price received his medical training at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He also completed a fellowship in advanced sarcoma research at the University of Utah Department of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Price joined Norton Cancer Institute in 2011.

Steven H. Pursell, M.D., Gynecologic Oncologist
Medical Director, Norton Cancer Institute
Dr. Pursell was born and raised in Kentucky. He received his medical training at University of Kentucky. Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, he completed his gynecological oncology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Pursell has been practicing in Louisville since 1986 and joined Norton Cancer Institute in 1999.

Janell                                                                                                                                                                 Seeger

Janell Seeger, M.D., Medical Oncologist
Dr. Seeger is one of the four founders of Norton Cancer Institute. She was born and raised in Indiana where she received her graduate education. Dr. Seeger completed her formal training in Louisville where she remained as a clinical professor. Dr. Seeger is board certified in internal medicine with a subspecialty in medical oncology.

Aaron Spalding, M.D., Ph.D., Pediatric Radiation Oncologist
Dr. Spalding completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan . He earned a doctorate in pharmacology during medical school at the University of Colorado . His post-doctoral fellowship, during his residency at the University of Michigan , focused on combining experimental cancer therapies with radiation. Dr. Spalding completed a pediatric radiation oncology fellowship at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital . He provides multidisciplinary radiation treatment for children and adults, and adds research expertise to Norton Cancer Institute's clinical trials program. Dr. Spalding joined Norton Cancer Institute, a part of Norton Cancer Institute, in 2009.

Stevens

Don A. Stevens, M.D., Medical Oncologist
Dr. Stevens is one of the four founders of Norton Cancer Institute. He was born and raised in Louisville where he received his medical education. Dr. Stevens completed his formal training in Baltimore, Md. at The John Hopkins Hospital. He came back to Louisville in 1989 where he has remained. Dr. Stevens is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology.

Brian D. Stoll, M.D., Radiation Oncologist
Dr. Stoll was born and raised in Louisville, Ky. He is a graduate of the A.B. Chandler School of Medicine in Lexington, Ky., and completed his residency there. He is board certified in radiation oncology. He has practiced at Norton Audubon Hospital for over seven years and serves as Chairman of the Cancer Committee. Dr. Stoll joined Norton Cancer Institute in 2000.

Elisabeth C. von Bun, M.D., Medical Oncologist and Hematologist
Dr. von Bun received her medical degree from the University of Hamburg  in Hamburg, Germany. After her residency in internal medicine at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa., she completed a fellowship in hematology and oncology at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center at Penn State University in Hershey, Pa. Dr. von Bun worked in Southern Indiana and Illinois before joining Norton Cancer Institute. She is a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist. Dr. von Bun joined Norton Cancer Institute in 2006.

Patrick Williams, M.D., Hematologist and Oncologist
Dr. Williams received his medical degree from the F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine at the Navy National Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., and Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He completed his fellowship in hematology and oncology in Texas at the Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston and Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio. Dr. Williams has been deployed in Operation Iraqi Freedom as a battalion surgeon and has served as chief of hematology and oncology at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, Nc. Dr. Williams joined Norton Cancer Institute in 2007.

Sheron Williams, M.D., Medical Oncologist
Medical Director, Norton Cancer Institute Survivorship Program
Dr. Williams was born in Nashville, Tn., where she received her medical training at Meharry Medical College. She completed her residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in medical oncology/hematology at the University of Louisville. She has been in private practice in Southern Indiana since 1996 and has a primary interest in cancer survivorship care and community education. Dr. Williams joined Norton Cancer Institute in 2006.

Thomas M. Woodcock, M.D., Medical Oncologist
Dr. Woodcock is one of the four founders of Norton Cancer Institute. He was born and raised in New York where he also received his medical training. Board certified in internal medicine with a subspecialty in medical oncology, Dr. Woodcock has been practicing medical oncology in Louisville since 1981.
