Telecardiology - Referrals

The Congenital Heart Center at Kosair Children's Hospital cares for patients throughout the region. Our telecardiology program and direct referrals offer patients state-of-the art diagnosis and treatment options close to home.

For questions regarding patient referral, call (502) 629-1234 and ask to speak with a pediatric cardiology referral specialist.

Telecardiology Program

With cell phones, computers and other high-tech communication devices, families and friends can have heart-to-heart conversations at any time, no matter where they live. Similarly, physicians from across Kentucky and Southern Indiana have access to heart-related advice and diagnosis for their pediatric patients through the telemedicine program at Kosair Children's Hospital.

Physicians at other hospitals can perform echocardiograms for patients who may have suspected heart-related problems and transmit the images to pediatric specialists at Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, Ky., using high-speed phone lines.

Kosair Children's Hospital was the first hospital in the U.S. to establish a telemedicine program for pediatric cardiology. In addition to Norton Suburban Hospital and University of Louisville Hospital, telemedicine sites include, in Kentucky, Regional Medical Center in Madisonville; Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville; Owensboro Mercy Health System in Owensboro; The Medical Center in Bowling Green; Western Baptist Hospital and Lourdes Hospital in Paducah; Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown; T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow; and King's Daughters' Hospital and Health Services in Madison, Ind.
