School At Work
Helping you climb the career ladder
Many dream of bettering themselves professionally, but not everyone can find a way to make it happen. Since 2005, Norton Healthcare has been helping employees realize their dream of furthering their education thanks to the School at Work program.
School at Work is a six-month education and career planning program created by Louisville-based Catalyst Learning Co. It has been used by approximately 11,000 students nationwide. The program helps employees in nurse aide, food service, housekeeping and environmental services positions review and refresh their skills in mathematics, reading, communications, customer service and patient safety. From there they can follow one of four career tracks: nursing, allied health, clerical or support services.
Here are some important things to know about Norton Healthcare’s School at Work program:
- Weekly classes are held on various Norton Healthcare campuses.
- Activities include viewing instructional DVDs and completing online course work.
- Students are paid for class time if it occurs during their normal shift.
- Each class has a coach who provides one-on-one assistance.
