Tarek M. Zakaria, M.D., neurologist, joined Drs. Gary Fox, Tad Seifert and As'ad Ehtisham with Norton Neurology Services, effective July 1. Dr. Zakaria recently completed fellowships in neurophysiology and epilepsy at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and brings much-needed inpatient and outpatient neurology services to the community. He is a graduate of the Damascus University School of Medicine in Syria and completed his residency training in neurology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
Dr. Zakaria's expertise will be instrumental in providing added support for the institute's epilepsy and neurophysiology services. He will focus his efforts in caring for patients on the Norton Hospital campus. He will complement Drs. Todd Shanks and David Sun, neurosurgeons with Neurosurgical Institute of Kentucky, in providing comprehensive epilepsy care, including epilepsy surgery planning and brain stimulation for patients with intractable seizures.
