LOUISVILLE, KY. (January 4, 2012): Norton Healthcare today announced the intended name for its women's and children's hospital. The work to convert Norton Healthcare's Suburban Hospital into the new women's and children's hospital is ongoing. Once complete, the women's component of services will be named Norton Women's. The pediatric component will be named Kosair Children's Hospital – St. Matthews. "These names state clearly our focus and mission at the new facility, while capitalizing on the reputation and recognition that comes from the Kosair Children's Hospital and Norton brands," said Charlotte Ipsan, RNC, MSN, NNP-BC, system vice president, Pediatric Services, Norton Healthcare and Kosair Children's Hospital.
The campus surrounding the hospital will also receive a new name at the time of transition: Norton Healthcare - St. Matthews Campus. "The thinking behind having two distinct names, one for the campus and one for the hospital, reflects the specific services they will provide to the community," said Lynnie Meyer, MSN, R.N., CFRE, system vice president and chief development officer, Norton Healthcare. "While the hospital proper will be dedicated to an advanced model of health care solutions for women and children, the campus surrounding the hospital will meet the needs of the entire family through a range of specialty services for men, women and children."
The transformation into Norton Women's and Kosair Children's Hospital – St. Matthews has already begun and will continue over the next 36 months.
