Norton Healthcare earns prestigious honor from National League for Nursing
(LOUISVILLE, Ky. (July 23, 2013) - Norton Healthcare has been designated a Center of Excellence by the National League for Nursing (NLN). The award recognizes excellence in nursing education.
Nine schools of nursing will also receive NLN’s designation this year, but Norton Healthcare is the only health care organization being recognized.
“This significant recognition supports the critical role practice environments play in advancing excellence in nursing education,” said Kim Tharp-Barrie, DNP, R.N, system vice president, Norton Healthcare Institute for Nursing and Workforce Outreach. “The Institute for Nursing team is privileged to be part of Norton Healthcare.”
The National League for Nursing recognizes nursing education programs, health care organizations and agencies that have proven their commitments to continuous quality improvement. Norton Healthcare was named a Center of Excellence for “Creating Workplace Environments that Promote Academic Progression of Nurses,” a new category established in 2012.
“Providing the nurses of Norton Healthcare with meaningful ways to continue their professional and personal growth and education has translated into improved care for the patients and families we serve,” said Russell F. Cox, president and chief operating officer, Norton Healthcare. “It’s gratifying to see our program for nursing education recognized with such an important honor.”
Norton Healthcare will be formally recognized as a National League for Nursing Center of Excellence at the NLN Education Summit in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 20, 2013.
