Cancer Care

Decades of pediatric expertise, comprehensive treatment and support services make Kosair Children's Hospital an excellent choice for the treatment of all forms of childhood and adolescent cancers.

Our multidisciplinary approach to children's care integrates the efforts of many specialists in cancer, including oncologists, surgeons, nurses, social workers, chaplains and pharmacists.

We also think it's important to preserve the quality of life both during and after treatment and that is why we include the entire family in the care plan. When a child has cancer, it affects everyone in the family. We offer resources and support for everyone that may include psychosocial support for patients, parents and siblings, a place to relax or sleep, and family-oriented activities.  We are here to help the family cope during this difficult time.

These include chemotherapy for all types of pediatric cancers, as well as supportive care for chemotherapy and blood disorders, including blood transfusions, red blood cell exchanges and peripheral stem cell pheresis. We provide chelation for lead poisoning and access to a hyperbaric chamber.

As Kentucky's only free standing, tertiary care facility dedicated to caring for children, Kosair Children's Hospital offers comprehensive pediatric medical services and treatment programs in a child-friendly atmosphere.
