Outstanding Employer of the Year: 2003, 2005

We are very proud of our workforce opportunities and innovative benefits. For the second time in the last three years, KentuckianaWorks has named Norton Healthcare its "Outstanding Employer of the Year." The award is a prestigious honor that recognizes Norton Healthcare for innovation and responsiveness in enhancing workforce and economic development in Greater Louisville.

Norton Healthcare was honored for:

  • Being a regional and national leader in developing initiatives that aggressively address workforce challenges in health care and in Louisville-area communities.
  • Designing and implementing short- and long-term solutions to difficult workforce issues. The organization’s efforts have encouraged and helped Norton Healthcare employees, disadvantaged and special needs youth, displaced persons, unemployed and underemployed persons, legal immigrants, persons with disabilities, single parents, minority students, international students, adult students, and many others to enter or advance in a health care career.
  • Creating a Workforce Development Office in 2000 focusing on workforce planning. It educates the public about the need for people to choose health care careers, develops new and grows existing programs, provides resources to candidates, and offers job placement after program completion.
  • Forging key academic and community partnerships, including those with all area colleges and universities; Kentucky Business Leadership Network; KentuckianaWorks , Kentucky Workforce Investment and disease-related boards of directors; Making Connections program; Project One; Louisville Urban League; Jefferson County Public Schools Adult and Continuing Education and many others.
  • Benefiting the Louisville region in many ways, including creating employment opportunities, improving patient care by preparing skilled clinicians for all Louisville-area health care providers, and increasing the number of caregivers.
