Festival of Trees & Lights tree design guidelines

 

Thank you for taking on the challenge of designing a holiday item for the Festival of Trees & Lights!  Please note the following when decorating your item:

 

*Please leave your numbered inventory tag attached to your tree or wreath at all times. 

 

  • All trees and holiday decorations are for sale.  Please ask yourself, “Would this tree or wreath be one I’d be proud to put in my home or business?” All items placed under the tree will be sold with the tree.
  • No sharp edges on decorations. Special packing instructions should be noted when turning in your item.
  • Watch the symbols. Please remember that symbols or icons from different faith traditions should not be mixed. For example, do not decorate Christmas items with 6-pointed (Judaic) stars.
  • No R-rated themes.  No adult themes should be used. Traditional designs seem to be most popular but unique themes are always welcome.
  • Wire or hot glue your work. Participants buy trees based on their appearance at the Festival of Trees & Lights, and they expect the tree to look just as fabulous in their homes. Please tuck in the wire ends carefully.
  • Wrap lights along tree branches. For safety and longevity of tree lights, DO NOT mix strings of lights from different manufacturers. We provide lights: 2- & 3-foot trees are pre-lit; 6, 50-light strings or 3, 100-light strings per 4½-foot tree; 10, 50-light strings or 5, 100-light strings per 6 or 7½-foot tree.
  • Dress the base.  Provide a tree skirt to cover the base of the tree and to complete the theme of your tree.
  • Box for delivery.  2- & 3-foot decorated trees should be delivered in a box which supports the tree base. Mark the box boldly with your tree number (ex. 208, 346).

 

IMPORTANT DATES

DROP-OFF DAY – Tuesday, Nov. 18, 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Please return your decorated tree or wreath to Louisville Slugger Field on Tuesday, Nov. 18.

You may use either the EAST entrance (Jackson Street) or the WEST entrance (Preston Street).

If you have a 2-or 3-foot tree, wreath or greenery and can not make this drop-off day, please contact your individual design chairman (listed below) NO LATER THAN Oct. 31.

 

4- and 6-foot trees will be decorated on site at Louisville Slugger Field during the following times:

Tuesday, Nov. 18, noon to 8 p.m. or Wednesday, Nov. 19, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

DESIGNER & SPONSOR PREVIEW PARTY- Thursday, Nov. 20, 5 to 7 p.m.   The official start of the Festival of Trees & Lights, thanking the wonderful people who create the magical wonderland to help Kosair Children’s Hospital. Please be our special guest.
