The Festival of Trees & Lights

The 2008 Festival of Trees & Lights will feature the sights and sounds of Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa, Nov. 21 to 23, 2008 at Louisville Slugger Field. The festival will be open Friday, Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Children's Hospital Foundation celebrates the holiday season each year by inviting the community to design and decorate hundreds of Christmas trees, wreaths and hand crafted holiday items for the Festival of Trees & Lights, a fun way to enjoy the holidays while helping Kosair Children's Hospital.

All proceeds of this event will be used to support the  at Kosair Children's Hospital. In 2007, the festival raised nearly $400,000.

Festival highlights:

  • Louisville's premier holiday black tie gala, the Snow Ball, which includes cocktails, a gourmet dinner, dancing and a wonderful silent auction that makes this night unforgettable. Presented by Office Ware, the 2008 Snow Ball is Nov. 15, the Saturday evening before the Festival of Trees & Lights weekend at the exquisite Marriott Louisville Downtown.
  • Holiday Dazzle presented by Today's Woman is a night out for ladies that includes tips for hosting the perfect holiday cocktail party with the best hors d’oeuvres, wine selections and drink recipes. Holiday shopping will also be available by visiting one of the jewelry, housewares or fine gifts vendors during the evening on Nov. 20.
  • Family night on Nov. 21 will feature Dickens on Main St., traditional family activities, and Santa Claus's first appearance of the season.
  • Take a Chance for Kids! Purchase your ticket to win a new 2009 Sam Swope BMW or $40,000 in cash at the Festival. Drawing to be held Nov. 23 at the Festival of Trees & Lights.
  • Celebrate Kwanzaa, Jewish traditions and Christian heritage 
  • Children's activities area, open Nov. 22 and 23, is loaded with crafts, activities and learning for kids of all ages. Activities include ornmaent making, face painting and decorating candy gingerbread houses.
  • Skill shops on creative holiday entertaining, Nov. 21-23, will feature wreath making, mixology and holiday baking classes.
  • Scout Day, Nov. 23: All Girl Scouts, Brownies, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts are invited to attend the Festival of Trees & Lights with their troops, packs or families. All scouts in uniform receive an event patch.
  • The Sweet Shop, packed with delicious take-home delicacies
  • Gift Shop, filled with delightful gift ideas for the holidays
