Kosair Children’s Hospital Renovations

Kosair Children’s Hospital (KCH) will begin renovation to expand their available MRI units from 1 to 2. The project is scheduled to complete in August 2008. The construction is not expected to affect the availability of MRI services at Norton.

Effective January 2, 2008 through August 1, 2008 the following temporary changes will be in effect:

  • The existing stationary MRI at KCH will be taken out-of-service.
  • A mobile MRI will be added at the Norton Healthcare Pavilion.
  • Adult MRI services will be available from 7a to 7p, Monday through Friday, 7a to 7p on Saturday and 7a to 3p on Sunday.
  • KCH patients will be scheduled on the Norton Hospital MRI and the KCH mobile MRI between 8a and 4:30p, Monday through Friday.
  • Whenever possible, inpatient MRIs should be ordered for the weekend and not held until Monday.
  • STAT inpatient MRIs from Norton Hospital will be performed on the Norton Hospital MRI and will take priority over pediatric and adult scheduled exams. During the week, MRIs for stable Norton Hospital inpatients will be scheduled in the late afternoon and evening.
  • All emergency exams will be scheduled at Norton Hospital.
