  1. Is your program ASHP accredited?
    Yes, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) is the national accrediting organization for all pharmacy residency programs.
  2. Does your program participate in the match process?
    Yes, ASHP requires all accredited residency programs to participate in the national match process.
  3. Is this a specialty residency (PGY-2) in pediatrics?
    We are the in the process of adding a second year pediatric specialty in Critical Care (PGY-2).
  4. When does the residency start and finish?
    The residency will run for one-calendar year. It begins July 1 and ends on June 30th the following year.
  5.  What is the application deadline?
    January 9, 2009
  6. Is an on-site interview required?
    Yes, on-site interviews are conducted once the application is complete and evaluated by the residency preceptor committee, usually in late January or February. Applicants will be contacted if selected to participate in an on-site interview.
  7. Is there an allowance for travel/lodging for on-site interviews?
    No, we do not provide reimbursement for travel to and from on-site interviews. If lodging is needed, we have employees who have offered to let candidates stay in their homes.
  8. When are interviews conducted?
    Usually in late January or February.  We try to schedule on Mondays and Fridays to help candidates on clinical rotations. We can make arrangements to interview during the week if necessary.
  9. Is there a staffing requirement?
    Yes, our residents work every other weekend. They function in a clinical role of taking care of all clinical issues for all patients in the hospital. They will write TPNs, evaluate pharmacokinetics, conduct pain consults and handle NICU TPNs. Distribution and order-entry training will take place during orientation.
  10. Are there benefits?
    Yes.
  11. Are residents required to work holidays?
    Yes, each resident will cover three holidays. Summer holidays for coverage are Labor Day, Independence Day and Memorial Day. Winter holidays are Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
