Swaddling Your Baby

Swaddling – a technique that mimics the womb experience – helps keep your baby comfortable while sleeping, allowing him or her sleep more soundly, and helps regulate body temperature. Improper swaddling, however, can pose risks for your baby, including overheating or developing a respiratory infection. It’s important to know how to safely swaddle your baby.

In the following videos, Chandra Smith, R.N., B.S.N., I.B.C.L.C., family and community educator with Norton Suburban Hospital, future home of Norton Women's and Kosair Children's Hospital, shows how to swaddle a baby correctly and gives advice on weaning your baby off swaddling.

How do you wrap your "baby burrito?" Chandra walks through the steps of proper baby swaddling and talks about how the technique can help your little "burrito" sleep better. Chandra gives tips and tricks for weaning your baby off swaddling.
