Wound Treatment  and Hyperbaric Center

The specialists at the Wound Treatment and Hyperbaric Center at Norton Suburban Hospital work as a team to help treat difficult wounds in patients.

From an initial assessment through creating an individualized treatment plan, the center’s staff uses sophisticated equipment and techniques to deliver quality care.

Center patients with non-healing wounds have access to specialized physicians including general and plastic surgeons, board certified wound specialists, vascular surgeons, endocrinologists, internists, dermatologists and infectious disease physicians.

In addition to a vascular laboratory, radiology services and other onsite diagnostic studies, the center also offers one of the area’s only hyperbaric medicine programs.  This little known non-invasive oxygen therapy may be used to treat a variety of medical conditions including:

  • Decompression sickness
  • Carbon monoxide poisoning
  • Gas gangrene
  • Necrotizing infections
  • Osteomyelitis or infection of the bone
  • Damage from radiation
  • Severe anemia
  • Diabetic foot ulcers

Other non-healing wounds that the center is able to address include:

  • Arterial ulcers
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Venous stasis ulcers
  • Trauma wounds/crash injuries
  • Compromised skin grafts and flaps
