Norton Cancer Institute Honors

Quality Oncology Practice Initiative
In 2011, the American Society of Clinical Oncology Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) recognized Norton Cancer Institute with certification for its commitment to high-quality, comprehensive cancer care as defined by clinical experts.

Cancer network accreditation
Norton Cancer Institute is the only network-accredited cancer program in Kentucky as designated by the Commission on Cancer, a division of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS). This recognition means Norton Cancer Institute is among an elite group of ACoS-accredited cancer programs nationwide.

National Cancer Institute Community Cancer Centers Program
In 2010 Norton Cancer Institute was selected to participate in the National Cancer Institute Community Cancer Centers Program. NCCCP is a strategic partnership between the National Cancer Institute and participating hospitals with the goal of creating a community-based cancer center network to support research, enhance access to care and increase quality of care at community hospitals throughout the nation. Norton Cancer Institute is home to more than 100 oncology-certified nurses, 10 patient navigators and five clinical research nurses.

Norton Cancer Institute is the only NCCCP site in Kentucky and one of only 21 sites in the nation selected to pilot initiatives designed to improve cancer outcomes.

National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC)
Norton Healthcare has been granted a three-year full accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). Norton Healthcare is the only health care network in Kentucky to achieve this accreditation for all its adult-service facilities.

Summit Award winner

For the fourth consecutive year, Press Ganey Associates Inc. has named Norton Cancer Institute a prestigious Summit Award winner. Each award recognizes three years of consistent achievements in service excellence and exceptional patient satisfaction.

Recipients of the Summit Award set themselves apart through demonstrating dedication to improving and sustaining excellence in quality of care as well as employee and physician satisfaction.
