Hip Replacement

Title: Outcomes Following Anterior Approach to Total Hip Arthroplasty: A Multi-Centre Observational Cohort Study

Sponsor: DePuy Orthopeadics

Principal Investigaor: Jonathan Yerasimides, M.D.

Purpose of Study: The purpose of this study is to determine which of the three approaches to Total Hip Arthoplasty (anterior, anterolateral, or posterior) is the most effective. The main outcome that will determine the most effective approach is the rate of complications experienced by the patients included in this study. We will also compare whether different approaches to THA will influence a patient’s: length of hospital stay, use of assistive devices, need for revision surgery, ability to return to work, ability to relieve pain, level of physical function, and quality of life.


Title: Revision Total Hip Arthroplasty using the Direct Anterior Approach

Sponsor: Investigator Initiated

Principal Investigaor: Jonathan Yerasimides, M.D.

Purpose of Study: This is a chart review study looking at the effectiveness of using the anterior approach when doing revision total hip arthroplasty surgery. 


Shoulder Replacement

Title: Prospective Post Market Clinical Follow-up Study of the Zimmer Trabecular Metal Humeral Stem

Sponsor: Zimmer

Principal Investigaor: Ryan Krupp, M.D.

Purpose of Study: The purpose of this study is to collect information to evaluate the performance of Zimmer shoulder components.  The results of this study will provide information that will add to the knowledge base of shoulder replacement surgery.
