September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month. Ovarian cancer is sometimes called the silent killer because its symptoms often resemble other more common conditions, giving the cancer time to spread. Get Healthy’s Jackie Hays talks with an expert at Norton Healthcare about ovarian cancer and what women should know.
The 10th annual Nixon lectureship is Monday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m. at the Olmsted, 3701 Frankfort Ave., in Louisville. Gynecologic cancer expert Robin Farias-Eisner, M.D., Ph.D., will discuss Early Detection: The Latest Techniques for Chemotherapy-resistant Ovarian Cancer. The lecture is free and open to the public.
