Dr. Owens, a native of Maysville, Kentucky, received his B.S. in health and exercise science from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, where he graduated cum laude. He attended medical school at the University of Louisville School of Medicine where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha Honors. Dr. Owens completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where he received a Resident Research Award and was administrative chief resident. He finished his training with a fellowship in spine surgery with Norton Leatherman Spine Center.
Dr. Owens’ clinical areas of interest are degenerative conditions of the cervical and lumbar spine, adult and pediatric scoliosis, and minimally invasive spine surgery.
Dr. Owens is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society, Scoliosis Research Society, Kentucky Medical Association, Louisville Orthopedic Society and Greater Louisville Medical Society.
