Participants in this activity should have basic computer and browser skills.  During the course, you will view and listen to a didactic lecture while viewing slides.  You will be asked to take a brief online post-test and score 80% or greater.  Once test is passed, submission of a final evaluation is required.

This activity is targeted toward physicians in all specialties and sub-specialties.

Statement of Need

Norton Cancer Institute Network Committee has noted recent studies showing the improvement in survival and quality of life in patients who receive palliative care.  Therefore, physician education is necessary to continue improvement in quality of life and survival of patients who receive this care.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to:
1.  Identify three behaviors patients need from their physicians, regardless of whether they are at the end of life.
2.  Describe how hospice and palliative research sheds light on the doctor-patient relationship.
