Restoring quality of life

The physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists at Norton Rehabilitation Physicians provide patients with a full spectrum of care – from diagnosis to treatment and rehabilitation – to restore maximum function lost through injury, illness or disabling conditions.

Our services

Physiatrists care for patients of all ages who are experiencing a wide range of conditions that may make it difficult to function at home, in the workplace or during recreational activities – from sore shoulders to muscle weakness. Physiatrists listen to patients and work with them to develop a customized course of treatment.

Our physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists treat patients with:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Sports injuries
  • Workplace injuries
  • Spinal cord and brain injuries
  • Chronic pain
  • Arthritis
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Disabling conditions
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Stroke complications
  • Parkinson’s disease

From medications and physical therapy to injection therapy to appropriate surgical referrals, patients have access to a comprehensive treatment program within the Norton Healthcare system. If surgery is necessary, physiatrists work with patients and their surgeons before and after surgical procedures.

Treatment may include one or more nonsurgical interventions, such as:

  • Medication
  • Therapeutic exercise
  • Injections
  • Assistive devices, such as braces or artificial limbs
  • Heat and cold therapy
  • Massage therapy
  • Aqua therapy
  • Biofeedback and electrotherapies
  • DEXA scans
  • Nerve conduction studies
  • Electromyography (EMG)

Physiatrists also coordinate patient care with neurologists, spine and orthopaedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, physical and occupational therapists, speech pathologists, psychologists and other health care professionals.

Our physicians

The specialists at Norton Rehabilitation Physicians treat the whole person, not just symptoms. By evaluating the impact of a condition – medically, socially, emotionally and vocationally – our well-trained physicians and staff help patients understand and take control of their health.
