Children’s Hospital Foundation
Office of Child Advocacy of Kosair Children's Hospital

Kosair Children’s Hospital always stands ready to treat children when they are sick or injured, but the Office of Child Advocacy’s goal is to keep the kids of Kentuckiana out of the hospital.   The Office of Child Advocacy focuses on building relationships and partnerships with local, state and national organizations and individuals who share a passion for improving the health, safety and well-being of children.  By working together we identify new partners and implement strategies to reduce the number of abused, neglected and injured children in Kentucky .

Unintentional injury remains the leading threat for children ages 14 and younger.   Through SAFE KIDS Louisville and Jefferson County, a program led by Kosair Children’s Hospital, the Office of Child Advocacy provides education on critical safety issues and products that protect children from injury and advocates for new and stronger safety legislation.  We monitor health and injury data to identify and address community-specific issues and work with school systems to change the conditions that put our children at risk.

Through a partnership with the Kentucky State Police Governor’s Highway Safety Program, one of our child advocates is leading the statewide effort to develop an infrastructure of certified child passenger safety technicians.   With more technicians and permanent fitting stations, we are increasing the number of children properly restrained in child safety seats.

With the ongoing support of the community, the Office of Child Advocacy will work to make an impact on the lives of children. We will continue to teach children and their families smart safety practices and healthy living habits.   For more information about our safety efforts or to request safety information for your family call (502) 629-KIDS.
