About the Kentucky Regional Poison Center

The Kentucky Regional Poison Center of Kosair Children’s Hospital is a professionally certified center dedicated to reducing and, when possible, eliminating the morbidity and mortality from poison exposures in Kentucky.

Staff
The center is staffed with well-trained experts – dedicated, licensed nurses and board-certified physicians specially skilled in clinical toxicology. Many of our nurses and physicians have handled more than 20,000 poisoning cases each. Some senior staff members have handled more than 50,000 cases each.

Poison Prevention and Education Programs
Professional education programs and credits are available (CMEs and CEUs) for physicians, nurses and pharmacists. Participation in research studies also may be available throughout the year.

Statistics and Epidemiological Information
Reports on specific questions are available. Annual reports on “Poisoning in Kentucky” also are available upon request. Contact the administration office.

Confidentiality and Medical Records
All calls to the center are considered confidential. Strict HIPPA compliance is maintained. For further information concerning confidentiality, contact the administrative office.
