Stents
Small, flexible tubes made of plastic or wire mesh are used to hold open pathways that have been narrowed or blocked by tumors or obstructions. Interventional radiologists often can use stents to treat blocked blood vessels without surgery. Stents require no surgical incision, just a small nick in the skin. Patients usually return to normal activity shortly after the procedure. Stents can also be used to treat bile ducts ducts blockages or obstructed by tumor.
