Sheila Ward, APRN, psychiatric nurse practitioner, has joined Norton Physician Services to provide women's mental health services at Norton Suburban Hospital and the future Norton Women's and Kosair Children's Hospital – St. Matthews.
Ward provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment of women with:
- Anxiety disorders
- Hormonal challenges such as PMS
- Postpartum depression
- Menopausal issues
Ward comes to Norton Healthcare with more than 31 years as a nurse practitioner and 10 years' experience in women's mental health. She most recently served as director of the Mind-Body Center with the University of Louisville Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Women's Health. She worked at U of L for some 23 years.
Ward is a graduate of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. She is certified as a nurse-midwife from Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, Ky. She practiced as a certified nurse-midwife for 20 years before earning her post-master's certificate in psychiatric nursing from the U of L School of Nursing.
Ward provides in-patient consultation for women at Norton Suburban Hospital, future home of Norton Women's and Kosair Children's Hospital – St. Matthews, and has outpatient availability for patients of any practice. Her office hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
