About the Young Survivors Breast Cancer Support Group
A diagnosis of breast cancer is never easy. For women younger than age 45, the experience has its own unique challenges when combined with the demands of a family and career. Norton Cancer Institute’s Young Survivors breast cancer support group offers these women the hope and support they need to cope.
Each month, the Young Survivors meet for fellowship and support. From monthly dinners to picnics that include their entire families, these women come together to help each other through all aspects of life. These women understand each other in a way that only those who have been through the experience of breast cancer can understand. Proceeds from the yearly Young Survivors Benefit & Celebration and other donors help fund the monthly events, create gift baskets for newly diagnosed young women and sponsor two or three young survivors to attend the national Young Survival Coalition conference.
For more information about the Young Survivors breast cancer support group, contact Leesa Mattingly, R.N., breast cancer patient navigator.
