Platelet Disorders

Submit request or call to make an appointment.

Platelet disorders are a set of conditions in which people have an abnormal platelet count — either low platelets or high platelets. Platelets are cells that are found in the blood and are involved in blood clotting.

Low platelets, or thrombocytopenia, is the more common platelet disorder. People with thrombocytopenia are at risk for bleeding and bruising.

The board-certified, fellowship-trained hematology specialists at Norton Healthcare provide comprehensive care for patients with platelet disorders, including thrombocytopenia.

The Latest in Platelet Treatments

The goal of treatment for thrombocytopenia and other platelet disorders is to get your platelet count within a safe range.

The hematology specialists at Norton Healthcare accomplish this with molecular, drug and transfusion therapies. Treatment for platelet disorders has improved over the last several years, and our patients have access to the latest approved treatments.
