Medical weight loss and bariatric surgery checklist
You may qualify for a weight loss procedure if you are:
- Between ages 18 and 65
- Body mass index (BMI) of 40 or above
- Have tried or currently are trying to lose weight through other means, such as diet and exercise
- Not drug or alcohol dependent
- Psychologically ready for weight loss surgery and willing to commit to a new lifestyle
- Struggling with a weight-related condition such as Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease or obstructive sleep apnea
