Norton Weight Management provides intragastric balloon placement, a nonsurgical procedure for weight loss. It is a safe and effective weight loss solution for those with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 to 40.
What is an intragastric balloon?
The soft, yet durable, weight loss balloon is designed to fit comfortably in your stomach. Its volume and shape take up space in your stomach, which encourages portion control and helps you lose weight.
The placement of the balloon is a simple, nonsurgical outpatient procedure. You are given a mild sedative. The physician inserts the deflated balloon through your mouth and into the stomach. It is then filled with a safe saline solution until it’s about the size of a grapefruit. The entire procedure usually takes 20 to 30 minutes, and most people go home the same day.
The intragastric balloon will remain in place for six months. During this time you may see the most dramatic weight loss. While the intragastric balloon is in place, you are provided with personalized diet and exercise coaching from a team of specialists. The objective is to develop healthy habits to carry you forward in your weight loss journey. Dietitians will be available to you for 6 months after the removal of the intragastric balloon.
